Wilderness at the Smokies, located minutes from Interstate 40 and situated in the foothills of the Great Smoky Mountains, is a year-round vacation destination that has established a new standard for family vacations to East Tennessee. 

With a 36-hole championship golf course, over 700 rooms and suites, the Adventure Forest family adventure center with a variety of indoor “dry” attractions, a variety of dining and shopping areas, two outdoor waterparks (open seasonally – usually beginning in April and continuing through September/early October) and an indoor waterpark – the Wild Waterdome, which is open year-round.  The indoor waterpark features a 10,000 square foot wave pool and the Southeast’s only Surf Rider, a spacious indoor/outdoor hot tub, waterslides with thrills and fun for all ages, and splashy attractions including a kids’ play lagoon, a toddler area and a 750-gallon bucket drop that is not to be missed.

The Wilderness at the Smokies resort opened in June 2008 with the Stone Hill Lodge and Salamander Springs outdoor waterpark, and just six months later, River Lodge and the 60,000-square-foot Wild WaterDome indoor waterpark were added.  In May 2009, Wilderness at the Smokies expanded again with the addition of Lake Wilderness, the resort’s second outdoor waterpark.  In 2012, the Adventure Forest family adventure center opened.

The debut of the Wall waterslide in April 2015 continues the Wilderness resort’s expansion of new waterpark features.  In April 2012, another exciting water slide for thrill seekers – the Wild Vortex – opened in the Lake Wilderness outdoor waterpark and quickly became a favorite resort activity, and that was followed by the debut of Cyclone Racer waterslide in April 2013.

If you are planning a major event requiring considerable meeting space, our Stone Hill Lodge is located adjacent to the Sevierville Convention Center, and we work with their staff to offer the best plan for your group.  When golf is an activity your group wants to include, that’s easy, too, with two 18-hole golf courses at the Sevierville Golf Club adjacent to our River Lodge.

Family Reunions at Wilderness

If your family reunion needs a change of pace and an extra dose of fun this year, look no further than Wilderness at the Smokies at the foothills of the Great Smoky Mountains.  When we say we have something that everyone will like and something for every age in your family from 2 to 92, we mean it! 

Here’s the great variety of activities and attractions that kids, parents, grandparents and more can choose from:

  • Two (2) outdoor waterparks for plenty of fun in the sun – open seasonally from April through September/early October (depending on weather temperatures), family members will experience every splash and speed – from a Lazy River and hot tub relaxation to the thrills of our big waterslides. You can even rent your own Poolside Cabana in our Lake Wilderness outdoor waterpark for privacy and pampering galore.
  • The Wild WaterDome indoor waterpark with over 66,000 square feet of indoor water fun. Open year-round and always a balmy 84 degrees, your family vacation at our resort is basically weatherproofed for fun!
  • You can dry off and have even more fun!  Wilderness at theSmokies offers 9 holes of Mini Golf adjacent to our Lake Wilderness outdoor waterpark, paint your own pottery at Polka Dot Pots, and Adventure Forest offers a variety of climate-controlled indoor entertainment options – including mini bowling, a climbing wall, a 3-story ropes course, a giant arcade and much more.

Birthday Parties at Wilderness

Birthdays are a special celebration for everyone, and finding a place for an unforgettable experience every year can be a challenge.

The Wilderness at the Smokies resort offers special birthday packages for all ages, and these parties are especially popular with kids and teens.  Birthday parties can range from 10-60 people, and all parties include:

  • 10 indoor waterpark passes (for ages 3 and up)
  • Two large one-topping pizzas
  • Two liters of soda (Pepsi products)
  • A birthday cake!
  • A group photo of the birthday party participants
  • Decorations
  • Up to 90 minutes for each party in a special party room
  • Can add to any party package depending on number of party-goers.  Our staff will work with you to add waterpark passes, food & beverages, ice cream or a special dessert, appearances by the resort’s mascots Molly & Monty - even more birthday cake!
  • Another fun option for birthday parties is to add all-day passes to our Adventure Forest indoor family adventure center located at the resort for even more fun for the birthday party participants

These special packages can be scheduled whether or not the birthday party participants are staying at the Wilderness at the Smokies resort.  It’s a great way to experience the indoor waterpark and have a great time at the resort and check out everything that Wilderness at the Smokies has to offer and plan a return visit for an overnight stay.

A Day-Long Adventure Awaits

Adventure Forest, a multi-million dollar indoor fun park at Wilderness at the Smokies in Sevierville, Tenn., provides families to the resort with a wide variety of climate-controlled indoor entertainment options to complement the resort’s already famous indoor water park and two seasonal outdoor waterparks.

Features of Adventure Forest include:

  • Tree Top Towers, a three-story ropes course with twists and turns offering both fun and challenges
  • Mount Wild, a 23-foot-tall indoor rock climbing wall
  • The Howlin’ Hound Dog Alley, miniature bowling featuring six full lanes
  • Moonshine Run, nine holes of black-light miniature golf
  • The Copperhead “Laser Maze,” an exciting laser encounter than will tell guests’ reflexes.

Adventure Forest is located inside the Wilderness at the Smokies resort adjacent to its indoor waterpark, the Wild WaterDome. When Adventure Forest opened in the spring of 2012, the 25,000 square foot family adventure center doubled the number of indoor attractions at the year-round resort destination located at the foothills of the Great Smoky Mountains.

Adventure Forest can also be a one-stop-shop for any type of party. The party rooms located just above the area give group of up to 60 people all the space needed, and party packages are available to accommodate fun and food of all varieties.

Adventure Forest can be enjoyed by guests staying at Wilderness at the Smokies, and tickets can also be purchased by those not staying at the resort.  Both adult and children’s tickets are available, whether staying at the resort or if individuals just want to enjoy the Adventure Forest area.
